I am looking to see how others are billing for the 88344 we bill this for prostate biopsies. The pathologist states multiple multiplex antibody stains are performed on more than one block from a 12 core biopsy. But when billed with multiple units we are getting denied. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

everybody seems to be using the medicare MUE for this which is indeed 1 unit. we are currently coding them as (1)88344 and then (?)88344/59, with the (?)88344/59 being denied. we are appealling the denial of course, but as of yet no luck. i have also billed each indvidual unit separate on a claim, so i ended up with 1 lines of (1)88344 and then 3 lines of (1)88344/59. they paid this claim, but not sure if it was paid in error or not....i have tried this a few more times and am still awating the claims to be processed.

Has anyone figured out how to bill this correctly to Medicare?
Sure wish there was a set way to bill labs out across the board.
