Wiki 88331 and 88334

HELP!!..currently having a discussion with cpt codes 88331 and 88334....half of office believes that you can bill both a 88331 and a 88334 on the same specimen per CPT, while the other half believes that it is double billing, and that they can only be billed on separate specimen. any thought would be helpful..thank you...

Read the rules regarding 88334. They state "Use 88334 in conjunction with 88331, 88333." (for intraoperative consultation on a specimen requiring both frozen and cytologic evaluation use 88331 and 88334) 88334 is an add on code and therefore cannot be used alone.
