Does anyone know if a clinical laboratory can bill an EIA analyzer test (presumptive) on the same day as a definitive test,

or should the definitive test be done on the next day for reimbursement?

If you are billing for a definitive test, you would use the CPT code for the drug you are testing for, with the collection date as the date of service. There should not be an issue. That's why there are separate codes for the presumptive and definitive testing and how it is designed to work.

However if you try to bill two 80301s or two G0431s on the same day, you will not be paid because those are both "per encounter" codes.
