Hi,

dx - pain abdomen in pregnancy
icd - 646.83,789.00,v22.1

friedns clarify me how far ami correct.In this senerio I mean to say there is complication in pregnancy but still it is normal pregnancy.So,I want to give v22.1 also.This is for consultation.600 series tells us only complication it doesnot specify normal or highrisk condition.Now tell me can i use 600 and v22.1 same time.

The ICD-9 code book says for the V22 diagnoses, "Do not assign with any code from chapter 11, 'Complications of Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Puerperium.'" :)

thankyou very much for your response.
I'm very much sure and confident of guidelines we should not code but my physician says it is mandatory to write though there is complication in pregnancy, they are normal and not highrisk.I convince her write it for documentation purpose but i should not code both conditions.
