I'm working with a relatively new office & they perform outpatient procedures I don't have experience with. I've got a visit where the Family Practice physician did an outpatient vasectomy. The claim was billed with the 55250 vasectomy code & 96374 IV administration code, for the diazepam that was given. The IV administration should be included in the vasectomy, correct? But we can bill the J code for the medication administered, correct? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response. I did get a little more info after I did the original post. The physician used lidocaine as the local anesthetic for the procedure. The diazepam was administered at the pt's request. So would the IV admin fee for the diazepam still be included in the procedure? Is it something that is normally part of the procedure?
