I have a procedure where the physician states "Single polyp was found in the descending colon, The polyp was tiny and was evaporated with hot snare polypectomy.
Since no biopsy was obtained can i use the 45385 or do I need to stick with the 45378

Thanks
Dawn

Hi Dawn,

Since the physician stated the polyp was evaporated with the hot snare technique, I would feel comfortable assigning CPT 45385.

Hope that helps!

Agree

I agree that with documentation provided, procedure code 45385 is correct. The description of this code does not say a biopsy must be done. :)
