Please help we have diffrent opinions here. If our physician placed the stent (43268) in January and then in March had to remove it (43269) but no other stent was placed, do we bill for just an ERCP in March or can we bill for the removal of the stent. I have yet to come up with any supporting documentation that supports anything. I have 1 in the office that states that we cannot bill for the removal as we were the ones that placed the stent, but then others like myself who feel that if our doctor has to go back in and perform another ERCP that he should be reimbursed for the removal of the stent.
 
I have no documentation to back it up but I bill that quite a bit. There's no global period for the procedures though. The 43268 code does not state that it also includes removal only placement. I've also had no problems with reimbursment for any of these charges.
