I am coding a carotid stent case, and I wondered the following:
In addition to the arterial access to catheterize for the carotid stent placement, the note says,
"The left common femoral vein was accessed with the 4 Fr micropuncture introducer. This was then exchanged over the J wire for a 5 Fr short sheath. The patient was then heparinized and anticoagulation was maintained throughout the case. "
Would it be acceptable to use a 36000 code for this venous access?
Thank you,
Allison, CPC, CCC
