We are having a discusion which code is best for the following procedure? We have one saying 30520 and another going with 30630. Any rationale appreciated either way.
Care was turned to the nose. Noted to have a septal deviation. Noted to have a perforation of 1 cm in size. Incision was made in the mucosa anterior to the perforation with a 15-blade. The mucosa was elevated with a Freer elevator around the perforation posteriorly as well. Next, incision was made through the cartilaginous tissue and the contralateral mucosa was elevated off from the cartilaginous region posteriorly. The perforated cartilaginous tissue was then removed with rongeurs and then posterior to the perforation, cartilage was then also removed but this was kept and straightened up and placed back to cover up the perforation in the perforation site. Next, then stitches were then used to approximate the cartilage into place with a 3-0 chromic suture and then incision site was then closed with 3-0 chromic suture as well.
