Wiki 3 concurrent drugs

CPT states the concurrent infusion code 96368 can only be used ONCE per date of service. Is that once per drug or once period? For example...

Drug A, Drug B and Drug C run concurrently from 1-2.
You get the initial for Drug A and concurrent for Drug B but what about the third Drug C?

There is an MUE edit of 1, meaning 1 time per calendar day is allowed - no more. Concurrent 96368 is also not a time based code and you do not bill for the subsequent hours of time.

I have never seen 3 drugs run at a single time, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. Typically if you have 3 drugs running, you have two drugs that are IVPB, piggy-back which is not concurrent situation. It's hard to give a single answer without a real-world example and reviewing the infusion flow-sheet that you are referring to.

You can have mult medications running, esp if you have a triple lumen or a central line (ports). So, in the case described below you would charge initial IV drug infusion x 1 and concurrent x 1 - the second and third infusion become part of the concurrent charge.
