Wiki 2nd Request-shoulder coding

Dr has advised me I should be coding the rotator cuff repair with 29827 & 29827-59 because the repair of the subscapularis tendon tear was completely separate from the repair done through the bursa through separate portals required to repair the supraspinatus cuff tendon rear. I can't find anything to back this up. Does anyone know if I can bill the repair this way?

Hi Debbie,

I would look at CPT Ass't March 08, pg 14 Q&A, (this is referenced below the 29827 code in the CPT book). Basically it says that repair of the subcapularis tendon is considered an inclusive component of code 29827. "...29827 represents the repair of one, two or three tendons."
