Is it correct to bill 20610 only 1x when an aspiration and injection are done on the same knee if a different needle is used.
Or should it be billed 20610x2.

I don't think the number of needles effects the units as it can in the shoulder when the AC and GH joints are injected. But I do know you can only capture 1 unit when an aspiration & injection is done on the same site as the code descriptor of 20610 states aspiration and/or injection. As when an injection is done on the knee the solution/drug goes into all 3 compartments. Hope this helps.
