Since the descriptions under E/M codes changed in 2013 to include NPP's, has anyone seen documentation from CMS that says the NPP MUST bill under their own NPI?
The question is whether or not a NPP can choose to bill either under their NPI, or as incident-to the physician (which is a higher reimbursement).
...and I assume that now they can bill for a New patient (where, in the past, the physician had to intiate the plan of care).
I'm looking for any citations on this.
Thank you!
