when a patient returns the same day, what do you do when it is a different provider? Use the same visit and modifier, it was a well visit in the am and sick in the pm.

You could submit both charges as separate claims since the provider of service was different. You would need to ensure that the sick visits has a modifier 25 attached. In addition be prepared to submit medical records to show why the patient was seen twice on the same day.
