When submitting a claim, the only indication on the claim that it's a 2ndary payer is the primary payment information. If the claim is submitted with no primary payment information, then it is more likely that the payer will process it as a primary claim. If you check eligibility on the payer, they will often indicate COB. If the COB is incorrect, then only the patient can correct it. If the COB is listed correctly, then a claim reconsideration can be submitted. I hope this answers your question.
