In this procedure, the provider revises an artificial opening, or stoma, between the skin and the urinary tract that he previously creates. He also repairs a defect in the fascia, or the fibrous tissue surrounding the anastomosis, and or a hernia, or rupture of the ureteral tissue. He revises the opening based on the type of urostomy, which may be between the skin and the ureter, bladder, colon segment, or kidney.
