In this procedure, the provider revises an artificial opening, or stoma between the skin and the urinary tract that he previously creates. He revises the opening based on the type of urostomy, which may be between the skin and the ureter, bladder, colon segment, or kidney. The provider performs this procedure because of a defect in the urinary or renal collecting system such as a blockage of the stoma, rupture, or other defect in the urinary tract.
