In this procedure, the providers inserts an endoscope through an incision in the skin over the kidney or the renal pelvis to analyze the kidney and ureter. He may perform this procedure with irrigation or instillation of saline to better view the structures. He may also perform a ureteropyelography, or a radiological examination of the ureter and the renal pelvis by injecting contrast. He also removes a foreign body or a stone.
