Summary

In this procedure, the provider performs an anoscopy, or an examination using a small, rigid, tubular instrument called an anoscope. He removes a single tumor, polyp, or lesion using a snare technique in which the provider passes a snare over the polyp or tumor and around its stalk. He then tightens the loop of the snare to grip the stalk, and pulls the polyp or tumor away from the wall of the anus.
