In this procedure, the provider performs surgical arthroscopy of a hip using acetabuloplasty to treat a pincer lesion. Acetabuloplasty means re–shaping the acetabulum, a cup shaped socket of the hip joint, to restore its normal shape. A pincer lesion involves an abnormally shaped socket that excessively covers the femoral head thus causing femoroacetabular impingement, a condition of too much friction in the hip joint. It reduces the range of motion in the hip joint.
