In this procedure, the provider performs surgical arthroscopy of a hip with femoroplasty to treat a cam lesion. Femoroplasty means re–shaping the head of the thigh’s femur bone to restore its spherical shape. A cam lesion is a bump on the surface of the femoral head that causes femoroacetabular impingement, a condition of too much friction in the hip joint. It commonly occurs in athletes.
