The provider examines the tissue inside the ankle joint with an arthroscope to identify areas of osteochondritis dissecans, where the cartilage separates from underlying bone, with fracturing of the cartilages called the talar dome and tibial plafond. She makes repairs to these defects and inserts screws to secure cartilage to bone, if needed.
