In this procedure, the provider performs treatment of an interphalangeal joint dislocation, which is abnormal separation of a joint, using screws and pins through the skin. He also performs manipulation, or adjustment, of the separated bones to reduce the dislocation. Phalanges are bones of the toe. There are three in each toe except the greater toe, which has two phalanges. An interphalangeal joint is a joint between two phalanges of a toe.
