Reader Questions:

Watch Those Parenthetical Procedure References

Question: My physician performed a colpocleisis and perineorrhaphy. She said it was not the Le Fort type, and that is the only code I can find. What should I be using?Hawaii SubscriberAnswer: You should still report 57120 (Colpocleisis [Le Fort type]) for this colpocleisis procedure. The bracketed "Le Fort type" wording gives an example of the type of procedure for which you can use this CPT code. The descriptor does not, however, mean that you can only use this code for that particular type of procedure.-- Answers to Reader Questions and You Be the Coder contributed by Michael A.
