Latest HH PEPPER Reports Feature Comorbidity Benchmarks
If you want to know how to best use your free PEPPER benchmarking report, check out a new instructional session from Medicare’s PEPPER contractor. “PEPPER is an educational tool that is intended to help providers assess their risk for improper Medicare payments,” contractor RELI Group says in the session’s slides. Reminder: The PEPPER report now contains two new target areas — percentage of low comorbidity and percentage of high comorbidity patients. The PEPPER report reaches back to cover data from the last three years, 2018, 2019, and 2020. But for these Patient-Driven Groupings Model comorbidity areas, “for the calendar years 2018 and 2019 there is no comparative data,” RELI’s Annie Barnaby notes. “It didn’t exist until the calendar year 2020.” Links to the 47-minute YouTube video, a transcript of the session, and the slides are at https://pepper.cbrpepper.org/Training-Resources/Home-Health-Agencies/HHA-PEPPER-Review-2021.
