An Illinois hospital-based home health agency is paying just short of six figures for a mistake it confessed.
“After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Northwest Community Hospital d/b/a Northwest Community Home Healthcare ... agreed to pay $95,667.35 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law,” the HHS Office of Inspector General says on its website. The OIG alleged that Chicago-area Northwest "submitted false claims to Medicare and Medicaid for skilled nursing home health services purportedly provided by a former employee that should have been billed at lower rates or not billed at all.”
