Get Friendly With The Order And Referring Data File

See the latest on the upcoming Medicare claims edit requiring hospice certifying physicians to be enrolled or validly opted out of the program in a new HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor post. Tip: Make sure the physician is listed on the CMS Order and Referring Data file (ORDF) on the date of initial certification or recertification, MAC Palmetto GBA advises in an article posted on May 20. And confirm that they have a “Y” in the hospice column. “If the physician has an ‘N’ in the hospice column, they are not eligible to certify for hospice and the claim cannot be approved for payment,” Palmetto cautions.
