For home care providers furnishing Part B therapy in the home, you’ve got a bit more room under the therapy caps this year.
CMS has raised the cap amount to $1,920, according to a new MLN Matters article. That’s up from $1,900 in 2013.
Reminder: On December 18, 2013, Con-gress passed legislation extending the Medicare therapy cap exceptions process until March 31, 2014, explains the American Physical Therapy Association. In 2014 there is a two-tiered exceptions process: an automatic exceptions process and a manual medical review exceptions process. The automatic exceptions process applies when patients reach the $1,920 threshold and the manual medical review exceptions process is required at the $3,700 threshold.
The MLN Matters article is at www.cms.gov/Outreach-and-Education/Medicare-Learning-Network-MLN/MLNMattersArticles/Downloads/MM8407.pdf. The cap doesn’t apply to therapy furnished under a home health plan of care.
