CMS Extends BPCI Alternative Payment Model

The more than 100 home health agencies participating in Medicare’s Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative may have a chance to do so a while longer. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is offering BPCI awardees the opportunity to extend their participation in Models 2, 3 and 4 through Sept. 30, 2018. They were scheduled to end this year.
“By extending their participation, CMS will be able to provide a more robust and rigorous evaluation of the initiative and determine whether the efforts of bundling payments are successful in providing better care while spending health care dollars more wisely,” the agency says in a release.
