You probably know if your patient population is at risk for relatively low outcomes based on racial and ethnic disparities, but now a new CMS tool will back up your belief.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health has issued an interactive data tool to “increase understanding of geographic disparities in chronic disease among Medicare beneficiaries,” CMS says in a release. The Mapping Medicare Disparities tool “presents healthrelated measures from Medicare claims by sex, age, dual eligibility for Medicare and Medicaid, race and ethnicity, and state and county.” A link to the tool is online at https://blog.cms.gov/2016/04/11/mappingmedicare-disparities.
