Save This Prolonged E/M Services Code Cheat Sheet

Use this chart to avoid confusion over code choice for your Medicare and private payer patients, and to calculate at which point the service will require a prolonged evaluation and management (E/M) services add-on code. Remember: Per the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) final rule, Medicare is still not recognizing consult codes, which is why you won’t be able to use a prolonged service G code in addition to 99245 or 99255.
