Our Surgeon has a case that he resected a sacral mass concerning for malignancy. Sacral laminectomy for decompression of mass. removal of sacral tumor CPT codes that were chosen were 63278 and 49215. Operative report is attached below. I was wondering if anyone had come across this type of case. Thank you

49215 would not be appropriate for an intraspinal lesion. Generally, but not always, if the code is in a section that is inconsistent with your provider's specialty, you have wandered off course. Instead, look at corpectomy codes- possibly 63303, 63308.
