I am really green with this type of coding so any help is appreciated

the patient's epidural start time by CRNA #1 is 15:21 the stop time reported is 08:45. During this time the patient went in for a C-Section, the time of surgery was 07:02 to 08:00. CRNA #2 provided General Anesthesia for the patient from 06:55 to 08:22.

Now I know if this was the same provider we would use 01967 and 01968, however since there are two different providers here we cannot do that as there will be separate claims.

We are also having an issue with the minutes the epidural was 1044 minutes, but we cannot bill more than 999 on a claim so we had to split that time and are being denied.

My question is when the anesthesia for the C Section started wouldn't the Epidural stop?? Any help would be great, and links to documentation as well.

Thanks

Epidural times

I have a similar scenario, only the providers are the same for both. The labor epidural times are showing as: 1040-0045 (DOS 02/19/2017-02/20/2017), the C-Section times are: 2120-2239 (DOS 02/19/2017). When I queried the provider, they stated it doesn't state who removed the epidural. So I'm thinking in this instance, especially since it's not documented that anesthesia removed the epidural, the end time for the Epidural should the same as the start time for the C-Section.

Any input???

Thanks
