I was wondering if anyone could help me with this questions.
I have a provider that inserted a Mirena IUD which was expelled immediately, she then tried again with a Skyla IUD and that stayed in place, all of this during the same visit.
My question is, should insertion be billed 2x?
58300-52 ( for the expelled one)
58300 ( for the one that stayed in place) with modifier 76 ( Repeat Procedure or Service by Same Physician or Other Qualified Health Care Professional)
or
should a 58301 removal be reported?
I'm thinking that 58301 may not be appropriate since it was not removed by the provided, it was expelled naturally by the patient.
Please help.
