Would I add a GC modifier on a global delivery charge (59400 or 59510) if the resident ONLY helped during the delivery and not in any of the prenatal care?
Hello. Did you ever find the answer to this? I am new to OB coding and learning as I go. I've often wondered if appending the GC mod to the 59400 was appropriate or not if a resident only assisted with the delivery portion. I have been told different info from different people.
My understanding is that if your physician provided & is billing for the global, GC is appropriate even if the resident assisted only with the delivery portion. The definition of GC is "Service has been performed IN PART by a resident under the direction of a teaching physician." It simply states in part, not all parts.
