Can anybody give me some examples of when a Foley can be billed (with a -59 modifier) with another procedure, specifically in the Emergency Department setting? This is for a new coder in our department. Thank you in advance!

I can't think of any off the top of my head. I think the only time it would be billable as a seperate service if the the patient would be in urinary retention or if the nursing staff cannot place one, maybe because the patient has false passage.
