I'm not sure if this should be coded 97597 or 11042. Initially the wound measured 2 x 2 circumferentially by 0.1 cm. This entire area was then cored out with a combination of forceps and knife. It was brought down to a large cavity and this portion was excised. The cavity measured approximately 6x5x5.

It all depends on the documentation and the information you provided is not sufficient. What was debrided? If subcutaneous tissue was debrided then use 11042. If the debridement was not that deep then use 97597. If muscle and/or fascia was debrided then use 11043. If bone was debrided use 11044.
