Wiki CRNA and Moderate Sedation

The CRNA performs moderate sedation and QZ and the QS (if needed) is billed. We are receiving denials stating we are missing a modifier? What other modifier is needed?

Moderate sedation codes are billed by the surgeon when the surgeon performs the procedure & administers moderate sedation not anesthesiologists or CRNAs.

MAC is billed with a QS modifier. MAC and moderate sedation are not the same.
