I am looking to code 27618-LT for a removal of leiomyoma of posterior heel... no other landmarks provided. Should I be coding to the geography of the foot with 28043-LT instead? Does anyone have a nice cheat sheet they use for coding geography such as wrists and ankles etc? Thanks in advance.

I believe a removal of leiomyoma of the left heel would be coded as 28043-LT.

If I'm ever in doubt, I try to see where the body part in question is indexed in the ICD-10 book. An example of this would be if you look under Abscess, heel it tells you to "See Abscess, foot". Another example is if you look under Abrasion, heel it tells you to "See Abrasion, foot".

I know a leiomyoma isn't an abscess or abrasion but since the ICD-10 book considers the heel part of the foot I would use this information to determine your CPT code.

I hope this helps.
