dr saw patient and had to perform three 73110 of the right writs, one pre reduction and 2 post reduction, would I bill it 73110 rt 73110 59 rt and 73110 59 rt or use the 76 modifier, please any advice would help
For multiple X-rays, usually taken pre & post reduction, the modifier will depend on the payer. Some will want the -59 and others -76. I would just bill out the additional X-rays with -59 and then add a comment in box 19 of the HCFA 1500 form. I'm sure they will deny the additional X-rays as duplicate, but at least you can point out to the comments in box 19 during an appeal. If they pay the post-reduction X-rays without denying them as duplicates go to Vegas.
