The provider performs an ultrasound of the arteries inside the head using Doppler technique to study the flow and speed of blood through the arteries. The vasoreactivity test measures changes in blood flow velocity in response to a vasoreactive agent. Some protocols, referred to as a CO2 challenge, involve flow measurement before and after the patient inhales CO2 enriched air.
