During a cardiac catheterization procedure for a congenital heart defect, the provider passes a catheter into a major aortopulmonary collateral artery (MAPCA) off the aorta or its systemic branches and injects dye to visualize the artery and see how blood is flowing. The provider supervises the imaging, interprets the images, and makes a report of the findings.
