In this procedure, the provider performs transesophageal echocardiography, or TEE, with multiple transducers, or probes, or a rotating transducer to obtain a two–dimensional (2D) image of the heart. The TEE test provides a close look at the heart's valves and chambers to assess the overall function of the heart’s valves and chambers and determine the presence of many types of heart disease.
