The test evaluates the specimen, such as serum, for muscle–specific kinase (MuSK) antibody using a method such as radioimmunoassay. The level of this noninfectious agent antibody may indicate that the patient has myasthenia gravis (MG), an autoimmune disorder that disrupts the interface of nerve and muscle, resulting in muscle weakness.
