This test measures the serum level of an antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA), which is an antibody to a type of white blood cells (leukocytes) called neutrophils. Clinicians typically order the ANCA screen (86036) with reflex to titer, which means that for any positive ANCA screen, the lab will perform the titer to quantify the level of antibody in the specimen. The titer may help clinicians monitor treatment response for autoimmune disorders such as inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis).
