Canthoplasty (median or lateral) is often referred to as a corner eye lift or eye tendon surgery. The ophthalmologist uses this technique to strengthen the lateral canthal tendon or orbicularis muscle at the outer corner of the eyelids. This procedure provides support to the outer corner of the eyelid along with the reshaping of the eye. The procedure is sometimes used to prevent ectropion problems as well.
