Summary

In this procedure, the provider removes a portion of skull bone and resects an arteriovenous malformation, AVM, from the supratentorial region of the brain. This region is located above the tentorium cerebella, a fold of dura mater separating the cerebellum from the occipital and temporal lobes. The AVM treated is complex, meaning it is of a size greater than 3 cm with possible deep venous drainage or involvement of cortex areas that relate to areas such as sense, speech, and language.
