The provider accesses the anterior cranial fossa using an orbitocranial (transorbital) approach to expose an extradural (outside the dura mater) lesion or defect at the skull base. A suborbital ridge osteotomy and elevation of the frontal or temporal lobes (or both) are included in this approach procedure. Orbital exenteration is not included in this approach procedure. The selection of a particular approach will depend on the location and size of the lesion.
