In this procedure, the provider incises the perineum to reveal the prostate and enable the insertion of radioactive material, typically by a different provider, to treat malignant cancer of the prostate. He samples nearby iliac, hypogastric, and obturator lymph nodes, on both sides of the abdomen, and submits the tissues to a laboratory for analysis.
