The provider performs cystourethroscopy, the inspection of the interior of the bladder, the urethra, prostatic urethra, and ureteric openings using a cystoscope passed through the urethra and into the bladder, inserts the catheter tip into the ureteral opening, and injects an implant material below the opening to prevent backflow of urine from the bladder into the ureter (vesicoureteral reflux).
